Participants are considered "no-shows" when they fail to show up or cancel their reservation/RSVP within 24 hours of the respective event. When registered participants become no-shows, it is unfair to those who wanted to attend an event but couldn't because of event limitations. It is also wastes any valuable university, state, and/or employer funds used to pay for event expenses. In addition, many Career Services events involve employers who have dedicated their time to come to campus and assist students and alumni. Thus, having no-shows at these events not only brands the no-show individuals as unprofessional, but also reflects negatively on the entire university community. When students sign-up for an event there is a high professional expectation that they will attend.
If a student must cancel attendance at a Career Services hosted event, it is the student's responsibility to notify the Career Services at least 24 hours in advance of the event date. Those who cancel any later and/or fail to attend without canceling will be recorded as a "no-show" and may lose access to Hire-A-Redbird and the privilege of attending future events. To be reinstated, students must visit with Career Services during drop-in hours to explain the circumstances that caused the absence.
In the event of inclement weather, visit IllinoisState.edu for any announcements about the University's operating status. Career Services events will only be canceled if the University closes due to inclement weather or emergency situations.
